Hairy Monster
No idea whatsoever what this little critter was, but it was interesting to photograph and chased after even though it was very into the flowers.
My first impression was of a fly, but with all the hair on its body, I doubted it as a fly! It looked like a hairy monster to me...
This was one of nature surprises in the summer! I'm not fond of bugs but when they provided a chance to observe, it was quite stimulating to ponder.

I have to know...what kind of camera do you have? Is it DSLR?
ReplyDeleteThough I almost vomited when I seen the pictures (because that's literally what bugs do to me) The clarity is awesome!
Well, I hope he never visits my garden! But, your photos are really neat:@)
ReplyDeleteOh how nice it looks like it is pollinating but it's not a bee hmm . Anyway those blendtec blenders are really nice but expensive so if you get a chance to win one go for it . They are top notch alongside Vitamix so I would take advantage of the free 3-day program just to win a blendtec lol . The program won't hurt either honest. They will send you emails about it when the time comes and you might get to enjoy green smoothies :) Good luck
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in what camera you used too . My camera broke and I really want a good camera and your pictures look awesome .
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed an incredible shot.
ReplyDeleteHow I love your positive perspective on something that would ordinarily be seen as quite icky! Good job!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
What great photography of this mystery critter?!

Ew! On it being a "hairy fly"! But Wow! on your awesome photos! I'd like to know too...what camera do you use?

I think any bug would look hairy and scary that up close and personal... great photos!
ReplyDeleteLeslie
Wow, fantastic shots. I am not fond of bugs either.
ReplyDeleteWow - that fly is huge! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteGrand close up!! Boom & Gary of The Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteGreat Macros, thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteHe was very intent on that flower. Beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Mumsy Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful share today. You are definitely in the pink for photography. An awesome photograph.
I still think it is a hairy fly, but I don't know. It definitely is a Hairy Little Monster. You were so brave to continue following. Usually I tuck tail and run the other way.
Thank you for sharing sweetie. I love stopping in to say hi. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
This guy is really spiky too!He is very into his flower, just like a guy watching TV.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree this is not a creature you want to see every day. You did an excellent job getting such great shots of it and so close up. You do very well in that area.
ReplyDeleteYou took some great pictures of that hairy guy!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Char
Your detail is fantastic! He doesn't look like a common housefly.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some fly!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you located? I am tempted to send your photo to our local Natural History Museum which is well endowed with insect experts but continent and area would be helpful in identification.
I too had not seen one like this before or is it just the wonderful macro lens magnifications that shows detail we would not dream of with the naked eye?
One would never think of ants as being hairy creatures yet they are identified as well as classified by the number of hairs on various body parts.
YIKES!!! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteAww...he's just looking for dinner..
ReplyDeleteI think....shudder...
As long as it stays on the other side of my monitor, we're good.
ReplyDeleteamazing crisp pictures, so exciting to see the details.
